What is StarReports?

Back in June 2005, I noticed how long it took my wife, an infant class teacher, to complete her annual reports. I couldn’t believe what a time consuming and tiresome process the whole job was. It had taken ages and this was outside school hours! I decided that there had to be an easier method, a way to help her and other teachers complete the task in a fraction of the time. My aim was simple, to enable teachers to create reports as quickly and easily as possible and to utilise the latest technology in a way that was accessible and intuitive.

Save Time
The main aim of StarReports is to allow teachers to build reports as fast as possible, freeing time for other things. It does this in 2 ways:

1. Building sentences by selecting pre-defined statements means you don't have to type everything
2. Modifying Template Reports mean you don't have to start from scratch for every report

Easy to use
The second aim of the program is that it should be very simple to use. Careful consideration has gone into simplifying the whole report building process. While the range of possiblities within the software are extensive, the process of setting these options is very simple and useful information is given at every step. The process is as simple as: -

1. Enter your class name and choose the type of report
2. Add the pupils to the class
3. Choose a template report
4. Fill in the report questionnaire
5. Print out the Report

Easy as that!

Flexibility
While the reports are built from pre-defined statements, you can still add you own text to reports allowing you to say exactly what you want to say.

Professional reports
Quickly and easily creating reports is still a waste of time if the final report is poor. Great care and a lot of time has been spent building statement sets, from which the reports are built, that create meaningful and focussed reports that should also be interesting to read.

Internet based
StarReports is accessed via the internet so it doesn’t need any software installed. You can work on reports in school or at home, or anywhere you want.

Value for money
StarReports only charges for individual reports, there's no software to purchase and no annual fee, so you only pay for the reports you create. In addition, because StarReports is only available online the normal costs associated with selling and distributing software are greatly reduced and the savings are passed on to you.

Intelligent thinking
StarReports is designed to remember you and the way you work. Once you've begun to build reports the program starts to make your life easier by guiding you through the process at every stage.

Reusable Data
As you create your reports, StarReports will build up a comprehensive database of your information that you can use again. The information also builds to show pupil progression from report to report.
